No Working Title
Like how you will find me on X with a constant "Come at me boy!" stance, because it is common knowledge that if I don't stand up for myself in this public town square I will get my ass handed to me, and X never forgets. Alternatively, I could provoke a fight and still get my proverbial ass handed to me still, but this is surprisingly still a win. Because I could 1. Get a hiding and go viral for it. In marketing, especially in this age of personal branding, All publicity is Good Publicity. or 2. I could get clobbered but not go viral or anything much, even in this case your visibility will have marginally improved, your existence marginally noted, and that is better than indifference. For this reason, X tends to be more rewarding to the rough caveman deep within.
And then there is LinkedIn. Where we go to showcase our "Humble Overachiever" side. Here diplomacy comes first, bringing out a professional and empathetic side that is just as engaging and industrious as X, just minus the X side shows and occasional lunacy. You need to look good here, that cannot be overstated.
Next comes Facebook with an altogether different vibe. Facebook is where all the aunties, uncles, and old friends reside. So much as it is not as formal as LinkedIn, it is not the Wild West like X. This is where you post all your achievements and personal wins and L's. In this zone humility is expected, "Be Humble, Sit Down🎙🎶🎵". You cannot blow your horn like you do on LinkedIn, and you also can't randomly go toe to toe with some stranger halfway across the world and move on with your day whistling like nothing just happened without being perceived as barbaric, like you would on X.
And finally, there is The Podcast. A class of its own that is rapidly growing. The podcast seems to have taken up all the combined traits of the aforementioned Social Media zones and amplified them. Here you find the world's most powerful men engaging in tell-all conversations with someone we would comparatively call "ordinary", scenes that would have been unprecedented just a few years ago. Here you find Mia Khalifa telling her side of the story in a calm and accommodating environment minus the time and political correctness restrictions of traditional media.
Here you find Political dissidents living in exile telling their side of the story in real-time in their own voices such that it is no longer only the victors that get to write history.
Social Media, for what it is worth, will be looked back at as one of humanity's most defining revolutions. That I believe.
